Instead of syntax highlighting with different colours—syntax highlighting with different font styles.

As you type, it's set in IBM Plex Mono. As it recognises keywords, they are set to IBM Plex Serif Italic. As standalone operators are recognised, they're set to the roman serif. Identifiers are left in monospace. I think this might be a good pairing because the operators in regex identifiers are more legible in monospace.
